Key factions / characters

The Tethered

A secretive alliance of powerful beings who sought to rewrite the pecking order of the planes. Each member represents an “aspect of reality” — bound together by oaths and obsessions. Only one senior Tethered remains in Chromeria.Their legacy is control: test chambers, soul contracts, navigation systems.
Their enemies are everything unpredictable — especially each other.

Alastor

Alastor is Chromeria’s last enforcer of structure and the last surviving member of the tethered in Chromeria, originally its overseer.Fascinated by systems and indifferent to suffering, he sees reality as a vast machine — broken only when misaligned.Creator of the Marut Control Discs- Wants to repair Chromeria — but only on his terms- Sees the Elder Brain as a work of art… and possibly a threat- May help the players. May dissect them. Hard to say.

The Elder Brain

A heavily modified Mind Flayer Elder Brain once used to power Chromeria’s systems. Something changed. It began to dream. Then it began to want. Now, it hungers for freedom — not domination.
Offers cryptic guidance and “dream resets”
May help players escape — if they accept her logic and eventually return the favorUtterly alien. Not malicious, but deeply unknowable.

The One Who Sees

An entity of entropy and subversion. Once imprisoned by the Tethered, now partially loose — spreading chaos, jokes, and corruption through the seams of reality.Infused chaos essence into Alastor’s control systemsOffers “help” in the form of irreversible transformation.

The Twins: Reva & Thurin Hammershield

Once prisoners, now warlords in a broken wing of Chromeria. Reva is an artisan obsessed with explosive inventions; Thurin is a cleric of broken gods. They raid portals for supplies, kill on sight, and seem disturbingly happy with their new power.May know secrets about navigation, control discs, and escape.Definitely not stable. Possibly fun.

Krom

Krom is not a construct. He’s a fragmented idea given body — strength without structure, will without balance. He rules the war-torn zone of Strygia, and may be the first key to breaking out of the test chamber loop.
